Carnival to offer new seven-day cruises from Jacksonville
June 25, 2010
Carnival Cruise Lines today announced the addition of a new seven-day eastern Caribbean cruise itinerary aboard the Carnival Fascination from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal. The recently renovated 2,052-passenger Fascination will offer a series of six week-long cruises to Grand Turk, the private Bahamian island of Half Moon Cay, and Nassau, complementing the ship’s popular four- and five-day Bahamas/Key West departures.
In 2009, a record number of passengers – more than 185,000 – sailed from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal.
“Jacksonville has already proven to be a successful homeport based on the convenient cruise options that we offer to consumers from across the Southeastern U.S.,” said Rick Ferrin, JAXPORT Chief Executive Officer. “We thank Carnival for this clear sign of its commitment to the bright future of JAXPORT’s cruise business.”
Half Moon Cay is a crescent-shaped island offering magnificent beaches, a children’s water park, private cabanas and a variety of shore excursion opportunities. Grand Turk is an eight-square-mile island with beautiful white-sand beaches, the Caribbean’s largest Margaritaville restaurant and centuries-old historical sites.
“Guest feedback indicates a strong desire for more eastern Caribbean ports – particularly more intimate destinations such as Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk – and these new itineraries provide guests with an exciting new vacation option,” said Gerry Cahill, Carnival President and CEO.
Reservations are currently being accepted for the new week-long Caribbean programs aboard the Carnival Fascination. Departure dates include April 30, May 7, July 23 and 30, and Sept. 17 and 24, 2011.
