Details announced for the JAXPORT 2011 Logistics and Intermodal Conference

September 13, 2010

The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) has announced plans for the JAXPORT 2011 Logistics & Intermodal Conference to be held from March 21-23, 2011 at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Presented in partnership with American Shipper, the conference will examine issues affecting the logistics and intermodal industries.

Conference registration is limited to 350 registrants. JAXPORT’s inaugural logistics & intermodal conference, held in March 2009, sold out all 250 seats with registrants from around the country – so JAXPORT has added an additional 100 seats for 2011. Another sell out is projected. This event is held once every two years.

The 2011 event will include the following schedule:

  • March 21 – Evening kick-off reception at the Sawgrass Marriott.
  • March 22 – Full-day conference of consecutive panel discussions focused on challenges and opportunities facing industry professionals, followed by the conference dinner.
  • March 23 – The Norfolk Southern Golf Tournament at TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley Course.

A 12-member Program Committee comprising industry professionals has helped to formulate conference topics and speakers. Plenary sessions will include discussions on funding challenges for transportation infrastructure; the future of intermodal transportation; the potential to grow U.S. exports through revived U.S. manufacturing; and novel ideas to improve ocean carrier customer service. Panels will comprise senior executives from major ocean carriers, railroads, shippers and logistics providers.

“This conference presents an ideal opportunity to network with leaders in the fields of logistics, transportation and related industries,” said Roy Schleicher, JAXPORT’s Chief Commercial Officer. “While the focus will be on challenges and benefits facing shippers through southern ports, panelists are being drawn from around the country to discuss issues common to all logistics and intermodal decision makers.”
The Sawgrass Marriott, located just south of Jacksonville, is home of the PLAYERS Championship golf tournament and rated one of the Top 50 U.S. Hotels by Conde Nast Traveler.

The JAXPORT 2011 Logistics & Intermodal Conference is sponsored by Norfolk Southern; Amports; Holland & Knight; Horizon Lines; the Cornerstone Regional Partnership, and Moseley, Prichard, Parrish, Knight & Jones.
