The fast and the impervious

May 7, 2009

One of four ocean carriers to serve the Puerto Rico market from Jacksonville, Crowley recently transported JD Racing’s Jaguar XKR from San Juan to Jacksonville for the first racing event of the season at Virginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.

Driver Jorge Diaz Sr. said he has always entrusted the teams’ equipment to Crowley for all overseas transportation because of the company’s proven track record and reputation.

Crowley transported the car in a special container that not only kept the vehicle safe, but also featured a small auto-shop. The container arrived at Crowley’s private terminal in Talleyrand via barge, and was trucked to Virginia for the 2009 Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am racing title last month. After the season, Crowley will transport JD Racing’s car and equipment back to Puerto Rico.

Crowley Maritime Corporation operates a private cargo terminal in the Talleyrand area and also operates a container terminal at JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal.
