Help earthquake/tsunami victims in Japan

April 1, 2011

A note from JAXPORT Executive Vice President Roy Schleicher:

In the days following the recent devastation in Japan, JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson and I reached out to our partners at Tokyo-based MOL/TraPac and our other Asian-based customers, extending our deepest sympathies for the suffering of the Japanese people. We let them know that we have been in communication with many of our customers and tenants, and the Jacksonville maritime community was standing ready to help. The Tokyo offices let us know that donations to aid organizations such as the American Red Cross are the most efficient way to get help to the hardest hit areas.

Here is how you might join with the entire maritime community if you wish to help:

  • Access a special donation page we have set up with the local chapter of the American Red Cross.
  • Click “other” when prompted where you’d like your donation sent, and then use our unique code:
    JAX Maritime-JEPT
    (Japanese Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami)

Thank you for joining me in standing with the citizens of the affected communities in the Pacific as they face the difficult work of rebuilding their lives.
