Jacksonville City Council unanimously adopts resolution to "Support Our Port"
September 14, 2011
The Jacksonville City Council last night unanimously adopted a resolution calling on all Northeast Florida citizens to join SupportOurPort.com, a community campaign advocating for port investment and progress. The resolution was introduced by Councilman Ray Holt who represents Jacksonville’s District 11, home to several JAXPORT marine terminals.
Councilman Holt further urged council members and residents to attend a public rally planned for the Jacksonville Landing, Thursday, Oct. 6 at 5:30 p.m. to show support for port progress.
SupportOurPort.com started with the seed of an idea that together citizens and businesses can move the political leadership in Tallahassee and Washington to action and investment in JAXPORT.
According the group’s found, Jennifer Yoder of England-Thims & Miller, “Our representatives need to see and hear from a majority of involved, active and educated citizens. We need to bring the noise if we expect them to invest the dollars.”
