JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson, Florida Gov. Rick Scott promote Florida trade

March 18, 2011

Returning from Panama with Florida Gov. Rick Scott, JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson said the trip was excellent. Anderson said Gov. Scott spoke to Panama President Ricardo Martinelli and Vice President Juan Carlos Varela about his commitment to establish Florida as the shipping capital of the East Coast, as well as his commitment to prepare our ports for the Panama Canal expansion. The Governor reiterated this theme with U.S. Ambassador Phyllis Powers and Panama’s Minister of Finance and Economy Alberto Vallarino, saying, “We are going to get it done.”

Anderson said, “We were hosted by the Panama American Chamber of Commerce, and I had the opportunity to introduce the Regional President of MOL to Gov. Scott. It’s clear that JAXPORT will play a key role in Florida port strategy.”
