September 24, 2012
JAXPORT CEO Paul Anderson briefed Florida Congressman Connie Mack recently on the challenges and opportunities ahead for the port while touring the TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point. Anderson told Mack strategic government investment now will create tens of thousands of jobs and benefit for the future of the region, state and nation. Congress approves and funds the major growth projects that will keep the port competitive globally.
During Friday’s briefing, Anderson discussed JAXPORT’s role as Florida’s only strategic military port as he pointed our vehicles being transported from Iraq and Afghanistan. In talking with reporters following the tour, Congressman Mack said Florida should maximize the opportunities just ahead by planning for the long term health of its ports. The congressman serves as chairman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee of the U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
