JAXPORT welcomes new cargo service

May 8, 2013

JAXPORT recently welcomed the first vessel call from Bahri General Cargo, formerly known as the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia. The vessel Bahri Abha called on the Blount Island Marine Terminal and loaded vehicles and other cargoes headed to the Middle East.

In March, Bahri and JAXPORT announced regular service between Jacksonville, the Middle East, Africa and Indian sub-continent regions. Bahri executives say adding JAXPORT to the rotation will not only allow access to larger markets but will also assist the carrier in improving vessel utilization.

"The addition of Bahri to our growing list of customers is another indication of JAXPORT’s reputation globally and the major efficiencies and economies we offer the industry,” said JAXPORT Interim CEO Roy Schleicher.

The Bahri Abha is the first of six new, state-of-the-art, multi-purpose cargo vessels that Bahri has placed into service calling U.S. East Coast and Arabian Gulf ports.

Bahri General Cargo's current itinerary is Baltimore (import), Houston, Jacksonville, Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington (NC), Baltimore (export), New York, Halifax, Jeddah (eastbound), Jebel Ali, Dammam, Mesaieed, Mumbai, Mundra, Jeddah (westbound) and Livorno.
