A message from JAXPORT Board Chairman Dave Kulik to port customers and tenants

JAXPORT Board Chairman Dave Kulik recently sent the message below to port customers and tenants:

Following the announced change of leadership at the Jacksonville Port Authority late last week, I had hoped for an opportunity to talk to you personally. However, the last 96 hours have been invested in open discussions with all of our associates and with answering the multiple tasks of external messaging. Please accept this brief note as an update to the latest events.

First, the port’s service to our customers, employees and constituents is in the able hands of our interim Executive Director, Chris Kauffmann; Roy Schleicher, Chief Marketing Officer; and Michael Poole, Chief Financial Officer, all of whom are supported by the men and women of JAXPORT. This team will provide consistency and continuity and is operating exactly as planned in our organization efficiency design launched over a year ago.

The Board of Directors announced the change after serious and deliberate due process. We also appreciate the many contributions of Rick Ferrin and the growth of the port’s customers and scope of business. The Board of Directors pledges to you that we will select a new Executive Director that is an individual of extraordinary qualifications and well prepared to meet the challenges of an industry that is changing faster than ever. We assure you that the port under this new leadership will seize the opportunities that exist, even as the global economy still lacks the growth we all desire.

Personally, I will support our customers and this management team with whatever resources are necessary and commit to you that we will continue the momentum built over the last decade of success together.
