Port employees spreading holiday cheer

December 17, 2009

JAXPORT employees volunteered their time in the “Visit from St. Nick” program this month, preparing and distributing backpacks, books, tinsel and gifts to nearly 150 children at John Love Elementary, a school in the Talleyrand area. Employees read to students and led discussions about the importance of giving, all part of the program presented annually by volunteer organization HandsOn Jacksonville.

Dozens of JAXPORT employees also purchased gifts for children at Destined for a Change Ministry, Agape Family Community Church and pre- and after-school program Heart for Children. The gifts are part of the 2009 Angel Tree of Giving program.

Another community initiative JAXPORT organizes is its annual charity drive for United Way of Northeast Florida and Community Health Charities of Florida. JAXPORT employees and port tenants raised more than $42,000 this year for the two charities.

Happy Holidays, everyone!
