Thousands of letters in support of the port collected at the First “Bring the Noise” event — Letters still being accepted
June 13, 2011
Members of the architecture, engineering and construction industries in Northeast Florida recently began what they hope will become a community-wide campaign in support of JAXPORT and its future growth. The first “Bring the Noise” event kicked off a letter writing campaign aimed at urging elected officials to support funding of critical port projects. “Organizers collected more than five thousand letters at the kick-off event. They plan to hand deliver the letters to Washington, D.C., and Tallahassee but are still urging local groups and residents to add their own correspondence at the link offered below.
Organizers say the mission of this “Bring the Noise” campaign is to mobilize Northeast Florida’s competitive spirit to drive port progress, a stronger economy and a better quality of life. The port is Northeast Florida’s primary economic engine, supporting 65,000 jobs and generating more than $19 billion in annual economic impact, as reported in 2009 by the maritime research firm, Martin Associates.
Those interested in getting involved or groups wanting to host their own “Bring the Noise” event can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
