In the event that new information becomes available after Sept. 30, the new information will be provided to the public and comments will continue to be accepted.
The District is conducting a study to increase the depth of the existing federal channel along the St. Johns River from its current project depth of 40-feet to a maximum depth of 47-feet.
"This extension illustrates that our partners at the U.S. Corps of Engineers appreciate, as we do, the critical role public input plays in the creation of a successful effort," said JAXPORT CEO Brian Taylor. "While I have just joined the Jacksonville team, I already see the spirit in which we have chosen to approach the path to complete this essential harbor project: with all voices heard and with all perspectives considered."
The District also hosts regular public conference calls to provide information on the project and collect comments.
The next public conference call will be held on Monday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Each call will contain the same information.
