Named after the renowned French explorer, the Jean Ribault launched from Atlantic DryDock and Marine in Jacksonville in 1996. The 40-car capacity Jean Ribault is the primary vessel used in the St. Johns River Ferry service. The vessel features two independent computerized propulsion systems, as well as modern navigation systems including radar, DGPS and communication equipment.
