Where is the cruise terminal in Jacksonville?
In 2003, JAXPORT constructed a 63,000-square foot temporary cruise facility near the Northwest corner of its Dames Point site, bordered by Heckscher Drive and State Road 9-A in Northeast Jacksonville. The facility is open for service. The physical address of the temporary cruise terminal is:

What is the nearest airport to the cruise terminal?
The city's major airport is Jacksonville International Airport (JIA). Located about 12 miles from the cruise terminal, JIA provides non-stop flights to major U.S. cities, including those that serve as international gateways. More than a dozen major airlines and a network of regional carriers provide some 200 daily arrivals and departures at JIA. Jacksonville International Airport is located one mile west of I-95 (exit 363-B). Taxi and shuttle service is available from JIA to the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal.

Where is parking for the cruise terminal?
The lot is located adjacent to the cruise terminal building, requiring only a short walk. No reservations are required for parking. Parking is $15 per day per passenger vehicle ($60 for a 4-day cruise and $75 for a 5-day cruise), and $25 per day for oversized recreational vehicles ($100 for a 4-day cruise and $125 for a 5-day cruise). An oversized recreational vehicle is any vehicle that takes up more than one regular sized parking space. Cash or major credit cards are accepted. The parking lot is well lighted, fenced and patrolled by JAXPORT security 24 hours per day.
Handicap parking
JAXPORT provides designated handicapped parking spaces. Parking is $15 per day per passenger vehicle, and $25 per day for oversized recreational vehicles. Exception to parking fee: Florida Statute allows cruise terminals to charge for handicapped parking, "except any vehicle with specialized equipment, such as ramps, lifts, or foot or hand controls, for use by a person who has a disability, or any vehicle that is displaying the Florida Toll Exemption permit, is exempt from parking fees". (Per Florida Statute 316.1964)
JAXPORT will provide special assistance to our disabled guests from the parking lot to the terminal. Please advise the guard upon entering the port that you will need assistance.

What ground transportation services and rental car companies are offered from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal?
JAXPORT's franchised taxi service provides taxi and mini-van service from the cruise terminal to the airport. (Please call the taxi company at 904-355-8294 for current prices and reservations.)
While no rental car companies are located at the Cruise Terminal, Avis, Enterprise and Hertz have direct-connect phones outside the Cruise Terminal for your convenience. When you pick up the phone, you can speak with a representative to make arrangements to pick you up.

Is the cruise terminal open to the public at all times? What are the security procedures at the cruise terminal?
The cruise terminal building and berth for the cruise ship is a "restricted area" as defined by the Seaport Security Act, F.S. 311.12. Entry into the cruise terminal building is restricted to authorized cruise ship's personnel, JAXPORT operations staff and passengers holding tickets for that particular cruise.
However, vehicle access for passenger drop-off at curb side to the terminal is unrestricted.
Please note that the terminal will open to embarking passengers at 10:30 a.m.

There is not a restaurant in the cruise terminal. There are vending machines with water, soda and snack foods. Why put a cruise terminal in Northeast Jacksonville?
Dames Point in North Jacksonville is a good location for a temporary cruise terminal. It is near State Road 9-A and only 15 minutes from Jacksonville International Airport. JAXPORT owns the cruise terminal building and the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal site. Carnival and its affliliated companies staff their offices and operations within the cruise terminal building. The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, under the Department of Homeland Security, clears arriving passengers through the terminal.

How were cruise ships used for Super Bowl XXXIX?
In February 2005, the City of Jacksonville hosted five cruise ships for about one week during Super Bowl. The ships docked along the St. Johns River - including downtown and at JAXPORT terminals - providing several thousand temporary hotel rooms, as well as restaurants and entertainment venues for thousands of visitors.
