Board of Directors
JAXPORT has an unpaid seven-member Board of Directors which provides policy guidance for the Authority. Four members are appointed by the Mayor of Jacksonville and three members are appointed by the Governor of Florida. Members serve four-year terms and may be appointed to one additional term. Retired CEO/President, Atlantic Marine Holding Co, LLC
Ed Fleming retired in 2010 as CEO/President of Atlantic Marine, after a 32 year career in the maritime industry. He was a founding board member of the Jacksonville Marine Transportation Exchange and served on the Jacksonville Waterways Commission for eight years, in addition to consulting in the industry. Fleming has long supported the maritime community through his affiliations and has served as president of the Propeller Club, Port of Jacksonville and on the boards of the National Shipbuilding Research Program and First Coast Manufacturers Association. Fleming was named the Propeller Club Maritime Person of the Year in 1998. He was appointed to the JAXPORT Board of Directors in January 2014.
John Falconetti is Chairman and CEO of Jacksonville-based print services provider Drummond, one of the fastest growing printers in the country. He was recently elected to his second term as JAXPORT Chairman effective Oct. 1, 2018, having previously led the board in 2014-15. A Jacksonville native, Falconetti is widely recognized as a business and civic leader, having served on a variety of high-level local and statewide boards, among them the Jacksonville Public Library, Jacksonville Aviation Authority,
St. Vincent’s HealthCare and Enterprise Florida. He has been named an Ultimate CEO by the Jacksonville Business Journal and Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by the American Red Cross. Falconetti is a graduate of both Leadership Jacksonville and Leadership Florida. He joined the JAXPORT Board of Directors in 2011 and was reappointed to a second four-year term in 2015.
Executive Chairman, FRP Holdings, Inc.
John Baker is Executive Chairman of FRP Holdings, Inc., a successor to real estate company Patriot Transportation Holding, Inc., where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2008-2010 and Executive Chairman from 2010-2015. Prior to joining Patriot, Baker was President and Chief Executive Officer of Florida Rock Industries, Inc. He maintains volunteer leadership roles in several community educational organizations including Tiger Academy, KIPP School Jacksonville, Edward Waters College and the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast. Baker also served as Co-Chair of the Jacksonville Port Task Force and was appointed to the JAXPORT Board of Directors in October 2015.
President, bestbet Jacksonville
Jamie Shelton serves as President of bestbet Jacksonville. He joined the organization in 2009 as the Chief Financial Officer. Previously, Shelton was Vice President, Real Estate Accounting & Risk Management for Jacksonville-based Regency Centers. Shelton currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Jacksonville University and the Board of Directors of the JAX Chamber and the Jacksonville Sports Council. He is also a member of the Jacksonville Civic Council. Mr. Shelton was appointed to JAXPORT’s Board of Directors in August 2016.
Senior Pastor, The Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary
Dr. John Newman is Senior Pastor of The Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary in Jacksonville, Fla. Dr. Newman has addressed congregations around the globe and has provided leadership and inspiration to businesses on a local, national and international scale. He serves as the U.S. lead pastor for 60 churches located in Kenya and Uganda, and he has served on the boards of the National Baptist Convention of America, Cornerstone (JAXUSA Partnership), Jacksonville Urban League, Mayor’s councils, and the Sheriff’s Advisory Board. Dr. Newman was reappointed to JAXPORT’s Board of Directors in October 2015.
President and CEO, Bridgestone HosePower, LLC
J. Palmer Clarkson is the founder, President and CEO of Bridgestone HosePower, LLC, the largest U.S.-based service provider of hydraulic and industrial hoses used in construction machinery, mining, oil field equipment and factories. He also serves on the company’s Board of Directors. Clarkson has more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur, business builder and senior leader with skills in negotiation, mergers and acquisitions, financial and operational management and business plan analysis. Clarkson also serves on the boards of several other large companies. He was appointed to the JAXPORT Board of Directors in March 2018 for a four-year term.
President, Eventide Investments of Florida, Inc.
Wendy Hamilton is a Certified Financial Planner and currently serves as President of Eventide Investments of Florida, Inc. Hamilton has more than 25 years of financial service and asset management experience and specializes in managing multi-manager and multi-generational portfolios. She actively participates in numerous community service initiatives, including the Women’s Giving Alliance, and is a former board member of both The Bolles School and the YWCA/Community Connections. Hamilton was appointed to the JAXPORT Board of Directors in April 2018 for a four-year term.
