Jacksonville serves as the corporate hub for AMPORTS Inc., one of the largest automobile processing companies in the United States. With 13 locations across the East, West, and Gulf Coasts of the U.S., as well as the East and West Coasts of Mexico —including privately owned ports and rail hubs—AMPORTS plays a critical role in the nation’s automotive logistics network.

A trusted partner of JAXPORT for more than 50 years, AMPORTS is integral to the port’s automotive success and an important link in the global supply chain. The company provides vehicle processing and delivery services for a range of leading brands, including Audi,  Stellantis, General Motors, Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Ford, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, and Volkswagen.

“JAXPORT has been a trusted and reliable partner for AMPORTS for many years. Their infrastructure, commitment to innovation, and dedication to continuous improvement play a pivotal role in helping us deliver on our promises to our OEM [original equipment manufacturers] partners,” said Vee Kachroo, CEO of AMPORTS. “Together, we are not only advancing the automotive supply chain but also positioning JAXPORT as a key player in the global logistics industry.”

AMPORTS operates 173 acres at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal and 14 acres at the Dames Point Marine Terminal—both strategically located near auto-handling berths. These facilities support the full range of AMPORTS services, from handling new and used vehicles to managing high-and-heavy, oversized, and project cargo.

The company’s skilled workforce and advanced equipment ensure seamless service that meets the rigorous standards of its OEM clients—the automakers that produce vehicles or parts sold under their own brand names.

“Our long-standing partnership with JAXPORT is vital—not just to AMPORTS’ success, but also to that of our OEM partners,” said Mark Boucher, Chief Commercial Officer for AMPORTS.

Adapting to disruptions such as severe weather requires agility and strong collaboration across the supply chain, Boucher noted. Proactive planning and communication are essential.

“Communication is the backbone of our approach,” he said. “Whether through daily updates, one-on-one calls, or contingency planning discussions, we ensure that our OEM partners are fully informed and supported.”

Recent infrastructure improvements at JAXPORT further strengthens this partnership. The port recently completed the expansion of vehicle Berth 22 at Blount Island, allowing it to accommodate larger vessels. A new auto berth, currently under construction, is scheduled for completion in 2027. These enhancements help streamline the movement of vehicles from the ship to AMPORTS’ on-terminal facilities.

Jacksonville’s location at the intersection of major highway and rail networks makes it a top-tier vehicle distribution hub.

“This makes it a prime hub for connecting to markets across North America and beyond,” said Boucher. “Additionally, the port’s infrastructure upgrades, such as the expansion of Berth 22, are essential to accommodating the growing demands of vehicle imports and exports.”

AMPORTS processes thousands of imported vehicles at JAXPORT, many of them high-end models, which receive custom finishing tailored to each brand. Once complete, the vehicles are dispatched via truck or rail to dealerships throughout the Southeastern U.S., leveraging Jacksonville’s efficient rail and highway connections.

Over the decades, AMPORTS has grown alongside JAXPORT, expanding capacity and refining operations to meet evolving supply chain needs.

“JAXPORT’s prime location, excellent infrastructure, and continuous commitment to expansion and improvement allow us to efficiently manage the flow of vehicles between North America, Europe, and Asia,” Boucher said. “This collaboration is essential in helping us meet the demands of our customers, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain.”
