Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) Chief Executive Officer Eric Green outlined recent infrastructure milestones and the port’s long-term strategic priorities during the 2026 State of the Port address Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront.

Hosted by the Propeller Club of the United States – Port of Jacksonville, the annual event brought together more than 600 transportation, logistics and maritime industry professionals. Green’s remarks emphasized the importance of steady capital investment, operational efficiency and strong industry partnerships that strengthen the port’s competitive position.

“As you may have noticed, our terminals look different today than they did even a year ago. That progress reflects a consistent, long-term strategy,” Green said.

Recently completed projects include the $250 million modernization of Blount Island’s container and auto-handling capabilities, highlighted by completion of the SSA Jacksonville International Container Terminal and the state-of-the-art Southeast Toyota Distributors vehicle processing facility.

In addition, work to increase the air draft to an operational clearance of 205 feet — allowing more vessels to access Jacksonville’s 47-foot deepwater harbor — remains on track for completion by the end of this year.

“Through disciplined, targeted investments, we have strengthened our capabilities across all cargo types,” Green said. “Our focus remains on providing efficient and modern facilities and delivering long-term value for our customers and community.”

In FY2025, JAXPORT moved nearly 1.4 million TEUs (containers), 506,000 vehicle units and more than 10 million tons of cargo.

Following Green’s keynote, the program featured a presentation on global shipping trends and their implications for the Southeast U.S. supply chain.

Located in the heart of the Southeast U.S., JAXPORT is Florida’s No. 1 container port by volume and one of the nation’s top vehicle-handling ports. JAXPORT offers efficient vessel operations with a 47-foot deepwater shipping channel, two-way ship traffic and same-day access to 98 million U.S. consumers. Cargo activity through Jacksonville’s seaport supports more than 258,800 jobs and generates $44 billion in annual economic impact for the region and state.
