JAXPORT Board Chair Wendy Hamilton is a certified financial planner who serves as President of Eventide Investments of Florida. She has more than 30 years of experience in financial services and asset management and specializes in managing multi-manager and multi-generational portfolios.
Her expertise has been a tremendous benefit to JAXPORT, helping shape decisions and policies that impact a range of port stakeholders, from small businesses to global corporations.
“Wendy has a natural ability to identify business trends and anticipate future performance,” said JAXPORT CEO Eric Green. “Her knowledge, experience and leadership have been invaluable as we continue to build our capabilities for the future.”
A two-time JAXPORT Chair, Hamilton (pictured left) is the first woman to lead the port in the past 25 years. She is one of four board members appointed by the Mayor of Jacksonville, the remaining three JAXPORT Board members are appointed by the Governor of Florida.
During her tenure, Hamilton has overseen over some of the most transformational moments in the port’s history, including the completion of its largest growth initiative—the deepening of the Jacksonville shipping channel to allow larger ships to call on Jacksonville from destinations around the world. JAXPORT also secured multi-million-dollar public-private partnerships to leverage outside investment to upgrade terminal infrastructure and build the port of the future.
“Through these milestones, I’ve had a front-row seat to the incredible progress the port has made to benefit our city and state,” Hamilton said. “From new trade lanes to the completion of major growth projects, Jacksonville’s maritime community is well-positioned for the future.”
Some of the milestones impacting the port this year include the recent realignment of ocean carrier alliances that are giving JAXPORT access to more global connections than ever before.
Major growth initiatives also nearing completion include the modernization of the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal, which will increase JAXPORT’s ability to accommodate more containers at its deepwater terminal, and the relocation and expansion of Southeast Toyota Distributors, which supports more than 800 local jobs.
“The entire team is dedicated to ensuring this port continues to be successful and remains a powerful driver of jobs and economic impact for Northeast Florida,” Hamilton said.
In addition to her service to the port’s board, Hamilton gives back to the Jacksonville community in a number of other ways. She is a former board member of both The Bolles School and the YWCA/Community Connections, and enjoys volunteering at events for the Northeast Florida School of Special Education.
