Jacksonville-based Logistical Transportation Co., Inc., a veteran-owned, small business providing cargo services at JAXPORT, gave back to the community recently by expediting the movement of a modular building that will ultimately house a vocational training program for homeless veterans and low-income residents.
The facility is the start of a $1 million project to build out White Harvest Farms, a 14-acre sustainable farm in Northwest Jacksonville run by the Clara White Mission. The Mission will train participants in agriculture and farming techniques, among other skills. The veterans will work at the farm and their hands-on support will provide accessible fresh produce to neighborhoods where healthy foods aren’t readily available.
Logistical Transportation expedited the operation in order to ensure the non-profit could afford to move the oversized load from JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal to the farm.
“We moved this building for Clara White in two days where it would usually take 10-15 days,” said Logistical Transportation Owner and General Manager Marion Graham, Jr. “I believe in supporting community organizations and as a veteran myself, this was a perfect fit.”
