Norwegian offers seasonal three to 12-day cruises to the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean from Jacksonville through April 2026

It’ll be no tricks and all treats for guests sailing from Jacksonville this Halloween when Norwegian Cruise Line begins service from JAXPORT — marking the start of a new era of cruising from the River City.

The 2,344-guest Norwegian Gem will homeport in Jacksonville from October through April 2026, offering a mix of four- and five-day cruises to the Bahamas and longer 11- and 12-day voyages to the Eastern Caribbean.

Set Sail for the Bahamas and Beyond

Norwegian’s shorter Jacksonville itineraries feature stops at Great Stirrup Cay — the cruise line’s private island in the Bahamas which will feature a brand-new 1.4 are pool area later this year— as well as Grand Bahama Island and Key West. Longer sailings explore Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Antigua, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Onboard, guests can enjoy it all: poolside lounging surrounded by ocean views, specialty dining featuring a variety of cuisines, live nightly entertainment including interactive experiences like Wheel of Fortune, a world-class spa, and activities for kids in Splash Academy and teens in Entourage.

Once ashore, travelers can choose from endless adventures — from pristine beaches to ziplines and other thrilling shore excursions.

A New Era of Cruising for Jacksonville Travelers

“Our new service from Jacksonville reflects Norwegian’s commitment to delivering exceptional vacation experiences for our guests from a variety of convenient homeports,” said Chief Executive Officer of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, Harry Sommer. “From quick getaways to immersive voyages, we offer something for every type of traveler and are thrilled to provide all the excitement of a Norwegian cruise vacation to passengers sailing from Jacksonville.”

With more than 98 million consumers within a one-day drive from the JAXPORT Cruise Terminal, Jacksonville is quickly growing as a convenient “drive-to” cruise destination.

“For more than two decades, travelers have chosen to sail from JAXPORT for the convenience, friendly service, and easy access our port offers,” said JAXPORT CEO Eric Green. “We’re thrilled to welcome Norwegian Cruise Line and build on Jacksonville’s reputation as an exceptional homeport for cruise vacations.”

More Visitors, More Opportunity

The arrival of Norwegian Cruise Line brings new energy — and economic benefits — to the region. Local industries like hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, and attractions are expected to see a boost from the increased cruise traffic.

“The expansion of cruise service at JAXPORT is another example of our commitment to growing tourism and economic opportunity in Jacksonville,” said Mayor Donna Deegan. “From beautiful hotels and fine dining to sports, arts, and culture, our city has so much to share. Every visitor who arrives supports local businesses and contributes to our economy.”

“Adding Norwegian Cruise Line service at JAXPORT brings tremendous opportunity both for Jacksonville and travelers throughout the Southeast,” added Visit Jacksonville President and CEO Michael Corrigan. “These expanded cruise options will attract new visitors to experience our city and further strengthen the economic impact of tourism.”

Cruising Continues to Soar

Nationwide, cruising is booming. AAA projects that 19 million Americans will take an ocean cruise in 2025 — a 4.5% increase over 2024 — marking the third consecutive year of record-breaking volume. Cruise demand growth has even outpaced hotel demand over the past two years, underscoring travelers’ growing appetite for ocean adventures.

“As we continue to grow, so does our reputation as an emerging travel destination,” Mayor Deegan said. “We’re proud to welcome Norwegian Gem’s passengers and look forward to sharing the many sights and experiences that make our city special.”

Looking Ahead: A New Ship Coming to Jacksonville in 2026

From November 2026 through March 2027, Norwegian will bring another ship, Norwegian Dawn, to homeport in Jacksonville and offer refreshed itineraries.  Norwegian Dawn features numerous specialty dining options including Bamboo—an Asian-fusion restaurant, world-class entertainment, to unique bars and lounges such as Gatsby’s Champagne Bar. Norwegian Dawn’s 2026 sailings from Jacksonville will open for sale soon.
