JAXPORT’s Carnival Elation welcomed students from First Coast High School’s Global Logistics and Supply Chain Technology Academy aboard the cruise ship for a celebration marking the end of the school year.  JAXPORT employee mentors joined the students for a tour of the ship, question and answer session with the crew, and lunch in one of the Elation’s dining rooms.

Students who participated in the event have been mentored by JAXPORT employees through the Beyond School Walls program, a partnership with JAXPORT, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida and Duval County Public Schools. The students have been visiting JAXPORT once a month, meeting with JAXPORT employees and learning about careers in and around the port.

Many of the students have spent their entire four years of high school paired with the same JAXPORT mentor.

JAXPORT employees have participated in mentoring opportunities with students in Duval County Public Schools for the past 13 years.
