This month, the JAXPORT Board approved a six-year lease renewal with Jacksonville Port Terminal Railroad, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Watco Companies. The agreement also includes four optional one-year renewals.

Watco is a full-service supply chain solutions company providing rail, transloading, terminal, port and logistics services. The company owns and operates 46 short-line railroads spanning 7,100 miles of track and moves more than one million carloads of freight annually.

Through Jacksonville Port Terminal Railroad, Watco operates the on-dock rail system at JAXPORT’s Talleyrand Marine Terminal. The operation provides direct connections to CSX and Norfolk Southern, helping move a wide range of cargo efficiently between the port and destinations throughout the country.

The lease renewal continues a longstanding partnership that strengthens Talleyrand’s multimodal capabilities and provides port customers with efficient access to the national rail network.
