In December 2008, JAXPORT executives and representatives of the Hanjin Shipping Company of Seoul, Korea signed a 30-year lease agreement calling for construction of a 90-acre container facility at the Dames Point Marine Terminal in north Jacksonville. The $300 million Hanjin Container Terminal at Dames Point is expected to open for business by summer 2013 and will be a key hub operation for Hanjin's east coast port activity.

The procurement process to select a firm to design the Hanjin Container Terminal includes two steps:
1) Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
On Aug. 3, 2009, a Request for Qualifications was published and available to all firms interested in providing professional Consultant and Design Services for Construction of the Dames Point Automated Container Terminal No. 02. JAXPORT received a Statement of Qualifications from several firms.
On Aug. 26, the Hanjin RFQ Evaluation Committee approved the initial rankings of the firms who will submit proposals for the Professional Consultant and Design Services contract. The firms who made the short-list were:
1. Moffatt and Nichol
2. CH2M Hill
3. Halcrow, Inc.
2) Request for Proposals (RFP)
On Nov. 12, the #AE-171 Technical Advisory Committee recommended the approval of the following rankings to JAXPORT's Board of Directors.

2. CH2M Hill
3. Moffatt and Nichol

Following the announcement of results of the RFQ is it now OK to talk to JAXPORT about the Hanjin project?
No, the shortlisted firms may not contact JAXPORT, including the Board of Directors, to discuss the Hanjin project. Any contact for additional information or questions regarding this project should be directed through the Manager of Procurement.

When will the construction contract become available?
Design and permitting of the new terminal is expected to be completed 18 months after the design contract has been awarded. Once design is complete, JAXPORT and Hanjin will publish the construction contract for public bidding.
